Making Things Move

I've been toppled by a horrible flu for the last two weeks. Ggrrr. Like a good girl, I've stayed inside and eaten lots of soup, keeping busy with a new little self-imposed, semi-animated project.

I've always loved animation, and worked in the industry for a number of years when I lived in the UK - but discovered I loved the product more than the process, which is incredibly painstaking and slow. It still is, but I'm only making a minute's worth, and nothing's 'properly' animated in the traditional sense.

Instead, I'm playing with old childhood drawings combined with new ones and some very simple moving parts, using the structure of a very short children's story. I'm having a great time with it, and feeling a lot freer about trying new things, which I'm sure is the result of the course I've just finished. My aim is to finish five seconds a day, which means it should be finished by the end of next week. More to come!

Hi Carla I m looking forward to see this! I tryed to do some animations with flash, but I'm a mess. not advance to manage the program because i always get bored and leave. Someday I'll do a course to learn it. OK. surely your drawings in motion will look very funny and sweet!
I hope your flu definitely go! Bye!!!!!

Hi Roberto - I had a go at Flash too (used it ages ago but it's changed since then) and gave up; this time I'm using After Effects which is more like Photoshop. A bit tricky but enjoying it. And flu is gone...it better not come back. Have a good weekend :) Carla
